Professional Upholstery & Couch Cleaning — Melbourne South-East
Imagine your lounge suite looking and smelling genuinely fresh. No lingering pet smell, no mystery marks on the armrests, no patches on the seat cushions. That’s what customers experience after a professional upholstery clean — and it’s why they come back every year.
Owner-operator Johnny has been cleaning fabric furniture across Melbourne’s south-east for over 30 years. He attends every job personally — assessing the fabric type before selecting the cleaning method, not applying a generic process regardless of what it’s made from. The wrong method on the wrong fabric causes shrinkage, colour bleed or pile distortion. We do not proceed until the fabric assessment is complete.
Upholstery traps the same contamination as carpet — dust mites, pet dander, allergens, bacteria — in furniture that family members sit on for hours daily. Professional cleaning removes what vacuuming cannot reach.

Our Upholstery Cleaning Process — 4 Steps, Every Job
Fabric-assessed, method-matched and carefully extracted. The same professional standard on every piece.
Step 01
Fabric Assessment
We identify the fabric type — microfibre, polyester, cotton, velvet, chenille, linen — and assess soiling level, stain types and any concern areas. The cleaning method is selected based on this assessment. Wet extraction is not appropriate for every fabric.
Step 02
Pre-Vacuuming & Pre-Treatment
Dry soil and pet hair are removed with powerful pre-vacuuming first. Targeted pre-treatment is then applied to stains and pet urine spots. Enzyme-based pre-treatment on pet odour begins breaking down uric acid crystals during the required dwell time.
Step 03
Extraction & Deep Cleaning
For wet-appropriate fabrics, professional hot water extraction flushes dissolved soiling from the fibre and extracts it simultaneously — minimising moisture and drying time. Temperature and pressure calibrated to the fabric. No over-wetting.
Step 04
Final Inspection & Drying
We review results with you, address any remaining spots and provide drying guidance. Most fabric furniture is dry within 2–4 hours. We do not leave until you are satisfied.

Johnny from Xtreme carpet cleaning was amazing! I sent off a quote for 4 bedrooms and a living space, he was fast with the response and was very helpful with the process. He asked questions regarding the space/carpet/pets that no other carpet cleaning place had asked when I requested a quote. I felt much more comfortable going through him because of this and have absolutely no regrets. He was punctual, friendly, did an amazing job and in a great time frame. I highly recommend and will use Johnny for any future carpet/tile needs.
BriannaWe used Xtreme to clean our couches & chairs and carpets and they look great, we are very happy with the results. Johnny turned up on time and was very respectful of the fact we had indoor cats and a dog. Will be getting Johnny back for our next clean!!
Kirsten BakUpholstery Cleaning — Frequently Asked Questions
What types of furniture do you clean?
We clean fabric lounges, sofas, sectionals, armchairs, ottomans, dining chairs, fabric headboards and most upholstered furniture. Microfibre, polyester, cotton, velvet, chenille and synthetic blends. Leather and suede — contact us to discuss your specific piece. We always assess the fabric before starting.
Can you remove pet hair, stains and odour?
Yes — this is one of our most common requests. Pre-vacuuming removes pet hair. Enzyme pre-treatment neutralises pet urine odour at the molecular level — uric acid breakdown, not masking. Hot water extraction removes the treated contamination. Most cases respond very well.
How long does cleaning take and how long until dry?
Most jobs take 1–2 hours. A 3-seater and two armchairs is typically 45–60 minutes. Drying is usually 2–4 hours under normal conditions. Running fans or opening windows speeds it further.
Is it safe for delicate or expensive fabrics?
Yes — because we assess the fabric first and match the method to it. Delicate fabrics like velvet, chenille or linen are cleaned with the appropriate approach. If a fabric is unsuitable for professional cleaning, we advise you honestly before starting.
Can it be combined with carpet or tile cleaning?
Yes — this is our most efficient booking. Full equipment for carpet, tile and upholstery in one visit. Call 0412 503 321 to book a combined clean.
